This original plein air oil painting was created in 2019 on the Southern Oregon Coast near Brookings, Oregon.

“I love painting on the coast on a cloudy day. The temperature this particular day was amazing. Cool air, but heat retained in the sand underfoot. A gray day allows you to paint outside for a really long time because the colors and values remain consistent. For this piece I anchored the composition with the rock and painted the subtle color shifts of gray clouds and water. I’ve visited this place since I was a child. It was my mom’s favorite beach, so we’d visit every summer.” - Sarah
