Moonrise Over Loreto - Studio Version
This is the larger, sister painting to Moonrise at Loreto, a painting I composed and started onsite in Loreto Mexico. Upon completion of the small version, I decided to make a larger statement piece.
Painted on stretched linen with the best quality oil pigments. This piece is archival and will last for generations. The frame was constructed by fine furniture craftsman Jens Sehm in charcoal stained walnut.
The painting measures 20” x 22”, with frame 21” x 23”.
This piece was started on the beach at Loreto, Baja Sur, Mexico. We happened to visit during the full moon and were treated to it rising over the Sea of Cortez. It’s a little bit disorienting to me. Because I live on the west coast, I’m used to the moon rising over mountains. This time the moon is rising over the ocean! Sometimes it still hurts my brain if I think about it too long. But it was such a perfect and beautiful scene, this painting composed itself! - Sarah
